The Spencer-Van Etten boys and girls outdoor track and field teams competed at the Future Stars Invite in Trumansburg on May 21. The Panthers’ boys 4x800 meter relay team of Tyler Doster, Kenny Collister, Tyler Stahl and Calum Avery won gold with a time of 9:26.1. Avery finished in second place in the 800 meter race, clocking in at 2:19.4. Stahl earned the bronze in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.2.
Elliot Walters won the boys discus throw with a toss of 99’10”. Morgan Myers placed in second in the boys long jump with a distance of 17’2”. Lauren Slofkosky was the only athlete to medal for the girls team. Slofkosky finished in third place in the shot put with a mark of 23’4”.
Both teams competed at the Section IV Class C Championship on May 22 in Oneonta. Levi Mickelson earned two silvers in the boys 800 and 1,600 meter runs. Mickelson tallied a time of 2:05.9 in the 800 meter race and a time of 4:38.87 in the 1,600 meter race. Avery finished in second place in the 3,200 meter race with a time of 10:11.94. Christian Kuzman came in third place in the discus throw, tossing for a mark of 118’1”. Madelynn Pasto placed in second in the girls 200 meter dash with a time of 27.72 seconds.
Dryden’s, Trumansburg’s and Lansing’s boys and girls outdoor track and field teams also competed at the championship on May 22. The Bobcats won the boys team title and the Blue Raiders won the girls team title.
For Dryden, Steven Morrow won the title in the boys 400 meter dash with a time of 51.13 seconds. Jakob Greenwood earned the title in the boys 800 meter run with a time of 2:05.88 seconds. Brad Hume leaped for a mark of 5’10” to win the title in the boys high jump.
Dryden swept all of the boys relay events as well. The team of Logan Lancaster, Vincent Scott, Braedon Libbey and Aidan Kalousdian won the 4x100 meter relay title with a time of 45.01 seconds. The quartet of Kyle Brown, Morrow, Greenwood and Bobby Brotherton won the 4x400 meter relay title with a time of 3:32.98. The team of Brotherton, Greenwood, Jackson Crocker and Morrow earned the 4x800 meter relay title with a time of 9:01.17.
For Trumansburg, Finley Edmonds won the title in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 12.72 seconds. Edmonds also won the title in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.05 seconds. Emma Wright earned the title in the girls 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line at 58.92 seconds. Aiden Begeal won the title in the boys 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:08.43. Begeal also won the title in the boys 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:14.29. Josiah Lopez won the titles in the boys long jump and triple jump with marks of 21’6.5” and 44’8.75”, respectively.
For Lansing, Catie Eisenhut took home the title in the girls 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:49.72. Ellie Howell won the title in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.54 seconds. Catalina Zaloj won the title in the girls 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.04, and the girls high jump with a mark of five feet. Gwen Gisler won the title in the girls pole vault with a mark of 11 feet. Sam Panzer won titles in the boys 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.29 and 23.46 seconds, respectively. Ethan Burt won the title in the boys pole vault with a mark of 13’3”.
Dryden’s Kevin Gardner won the overall individual title at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Boys Golf Championship on May 22 when he shot a score of 78. The Lions won the Large School title as a team with a score of 483. Spencer-Van Etten’s Jacob Banks placed third overall as an individual at the championship with a score of 85.
