Groton scored two goals in the final 17 minutes of play, but Dryden held on to a 3-2 victory in girls soccer action at Groton Elementary School Monday afternoon.
The Lions (7-2-1) got out to an early one-goal halftime lead over the Indians (8-4-0) when Ashleigh Scheidweiler scored unassisted 11 minutes into the match.
Katie Daley added one seven minutes into the second half via a through ball from sister Keri Daley that made it 2-0. Keri Daley scored her own, assisted by Scheidweiler, with 17 minutes to play.
Groton leading scorer Lauren Reeves broke through a minute later with a goal off the direct kick. With 9:16 left to play she cut it to a one-goal lead with a goal to the opposite corner from just outside the 18 on a long ball by Brooke Brecht.
Dryden edged its Route 38 rival in shots, 12-7, while Groton held the nod in corners, 5-1. Dryden's Sarah Westcott made five saves and Groton's Emma DeMatteo made six.
