The Dryden Lion softball team ended its season on a positive note as every single Lion batter, 14 in total, had at least a hit and/or run in a 23-1 victory over non-league opponent McGraw Thursday afternoon.
In their final games in the purple and white, the three seniors had the "fondest farewells," head coach Ed Dow wrote in an email.
Marissa Tordel scored two runs and had a season-high three RBIs. Brianna Stafford had two hits, two free bases, four runs and four RBIs. Lindsey Goodenough had three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
"The three seniors will be surely missed next year," Dow wrote. "Both on and off the field these girls are excellent players and role models."
Along with the outstanding offensive output Thursday, junior Kelly Malepe earned her team-leading fourth win of the season.
"Kelly really stepped up this year for us on the mound," Dow wrote. "She hadn't pitched since her seventh grade year and she had some outstanding performances in the circle that really helped the team out."
Next year's team will return nine juniors and two underclassmen who have all had "excellent varsity experience this season."
"Combine that with some young talent from this year's JV squad, the Lions look to continue their improvement," coach said.
