Ithaca’s monthly gallery walking tour serves as the best way to become accustomed with the city’s extensive local art environment. Each month, around 20 vendors, galleries and curators open their doors, ensuring there’s a little something for everybody during your walk around. As you can tell by the name, these are held on the first Friday of every month; for the rest of the year, the scheduled dates are Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m.

“We’re so happy to be thought of as among the ‘Best of Ithaca,’” said Ellen Avril, the Johnson’s chief curator and curator of Asian art. “We strive to offer new exhibitions and programs year-round representing a wide range of topics. Whether you’re new to town, a longtime resident, or just passing through, we want to create memorable experiences with every visit. All are welcome, and admission is always free!”
