Walter Edward Bunce, Jr., aged 79, of Spencer, NY, died peacefully in his home early in the morning on Friday, Aug. 11. Family surrounded him.
Walter was predeceased by his father and mother, Walter and Genevieve (Homan) Bunce, married 44 years, and his younger brother John Bunce. Besides his wife, Eleanor Bunce (Parshall) he is survived by three sons, George, Walter (Sally) and Jon, his first wife and mother of his children, Mary (Robins) Bunce, four cherished grandchildren, Mary, Tanya (Kyle), Teri and Suzanne.
He is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Raymond Sr. (Bonnie), Stephen (Georgia) and Joyce (Arne) Pasto, and two great grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Walter served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Roosevelt. He was a carpenter for over 30 years, as a member of the Elmira’s Carpenters’ local 532 Union, and worked for Streeter Associates and taught carpentry at the Elmira Prison.
Friends and family can join in celebrating Walter’s life on Tuesday, August 15 from 10 to11 a.m. at the Spencer Federated Church, burial to follow the memorial at Evergreen Cemetery. An open reception will follow the services at the Federated Church at noon.
