Robert Lyman Frisbie, Sr., 83 of Halsey Valley died Friday, February 24, 2017 at Riverview Manor in Owego, NY.
He was born to Lyman and Gladys Cramner Frisbie at home in Halsey Valley by lamplight during a blizzard on February 1, 1934. Bob married Arlene Dobberstein on January 1, 1958. He worked on the family farm until a near-fatal accident in November 13, 1954 made the work too dangerous to continue.
Bob became an agricultural mechanic and opened what became Frisbie's Farm Equipment with his wife and sons. In 1954 he became the youngest charter member of the Halsey Valley Fire Department holding several offices including representative of Tioga County Fire Association.
Bob was one of the founders of the Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club. In retirement Bob with his wife and family started Frisbie Homestead Museum dedicated to life in Halsey Valley circa 1900.
They hosted Spencer-Van Etten 3rd grade field trips for 14 years. Displays of antique tractors and Bob's 1930 Buick were seen then and at Halsey Valley Old Home Days for many years.
Bob also hosted the 4-H Tractor Safety program. Bob is survived by his wife Arlene; children and their spouses, Ron, Rick, Russ, Bob, Jr. Frisbie; Barb Truesdail, Bob and Jeff Mallen; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; brother Fred (Nancy) Frisbie; sister Dona Stockton and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and nephew Craig Stockton. A private burial will be in Halsey Valley Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Halsey Valley Fire Department with Rev. Alan Dailey officiating. A time of fellowship and memories shared will take place as Bob touched many lives. A reception will follow.
