Mrs. Julia Duddleston Comin, age 93, of Madison, Indiana formerly of Trumansburg, New York entered this life on September 18, 1923 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
She was the loving daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Gladys Blake Miller Duddleston. Her father taught at Purdue University until she was the age of three and the family moved to Trumansburg, New York when he began teaching at Cornell. She graduated from Trumansburg High School and then attended Cornell University. She received her LPN from Tompkins Cortland Community College.
In 1941 she was united in marriage to Dr. Ralph Comin in Trumansburg, New York. This happy union of 21 years was blessed with three daughters, Karen, Connie and Mary and a son, Robert Bruce.
She was employed as a LPN with Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Trumansburg Presbyterian Church and at the age of 70 joined the Peace Corps traveling the World for two years.
She then worked with Habitat For Humanity for ten years. She recently moved to Madison to be near her daughter and enjoyed residing at River Terrace. Julia was an avid reader, traveler, and bird watcher. Julia died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 4:45 a.m. at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, Indiana.
Julia will be missed by her loving daughters, Connie Comin Runyon of Madison, Indiana, Karen Lumsden and her husband, Ken of North Tonawanda, New York, Mary Comin and her husband, Arist D'Atri of Hudson, Ohio; her loving grandchildren, Amanda Roach and her husband, Keith, Kelly LaLoge and her husband, Kerr, Jon Osborne and his wife, Ianthe and Kristen Osborne; her adoring great grandchildren, Avery Roach, Margot Roach and Seanna Osborne; her sister, Jean Baines of Ithaca, New York; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Harrison Duddleston, died Feb. 5, 1991, her mother, Gladys Blake Miller Duddleston, died Nov. 29, 1985, her husband, Dr. Ralph Comin, died June 1960, her son, Robert Bruce Comin, died July 16, 1945, her son in law, Deane Runyon died May 14, 2015, her sister, Mary C. Zimmer, died August 27 2012, and her brother, John Duddleston, died October 27, 2006.
Private family services will be held with interment to follow in the Green Wood Cemetery, 1000 Myrtle Street in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.
