Florence S. Wrigley, of Ithaca, went to be with her Lord peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Oak Hill Manor. Born here Oct 25, 1916, she lived in Ithaca all her life, working her way up to inspector at the pocket book factory, treating herself to a Texas Hot from Nick's Busy Bee on payday.
Courted by Frank J. Wrisley they married on Nov 23, 1940. Together they worked the family farm until he was drafted into service. While Frank was serving our country, Florence sold butter she churned, and eggs from the farm. She included the courthouse among her stops because the judges and lawyers were good customers and the deal was if you buy a dozen eggs you must buy a pound of butter.
When Frank returned from the war they enjoyed working the farm with their children and in their later years they traveled, spending Winters in Florida where they welcomed friends and family for fresh squeezed orange juice. After Frank passed away, she continued to travel with the Senior Saints and the Salvation Army Golden Agers including trips to Cape Cod, Missouri, Tennessee and Hawaii. She was an active member of Brooktondale Baptist Church for many years and was made honorary Grandmother one year at VBS.
Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Ruth Armstrong. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Carolyn) Wrisley and Frank (Alice) Wrisley; grandchildren, Mark (Kristin) Armstrong, Carrie Armstrong-Moon, Laura (Dave) Evans, Don Wrisley, Wendy Wrisley, John (Lisa) Wrisley; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Hannah Armstrong, Tyler Moon, Cody Perkov, Savannah Stephens, Dylan and Gabriella Wrisley.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Hill Manor and her friends for their visits and prayers. Friends and Family are invited to call on Saturday, August 6 at noon followed by a memorial service to begin at 1 p.m., at Brooktondale Baptist Church, 2311 Slaterville Rd, graveside service follows immediately at South Hill Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to the Brooktondale Baptist Church or the Salvation Army, 150 North Albany St, Ithaca NY.
