Designers of the  Texas Roadhouse steakhouse planned for South Meadow Street heard the city planning board's criticisms of its design at its April meeting. Most notably, the board thought the absence of doorway facing the Meadow Street sidewalk had no sizzle.

On Tuesday night, Paula Hubert came before the planning board again to show changes to the Texas Roadhouse design, to be located on a portion of the lot where Ollie's and the Vitamin Shoppe now stand. Hubert, a site development coordinator from Greenberg Farrow of Arlington Heights, Illinois, brought with her new designs that changed out a walkway along the sidewalk for more landscaping.

"This makes more of a focus on the main entrance," Hubert said of the drawings, which still keep the main entrance on the north side of the building but with doors in the entrance annex that face both parking and the sidewalk.

Placated, the planning board sent forward the Texas Roadhouse plans. Hubert said the company hopes to start construction in the fall and open in "the first quarter" of 2016.
