A Seneca County man was killed on a Covert farm Saturday in what sheriff's deputies suspect was a farming accident.
Seneca County Deputies said Nathan Z. Hoover, 24, of Seybolt Road, Seneca Falls, was found dead in a piece of farming equipment at 4043 County Road 143, Covert, around 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26. Investigators suspect Hoover had been operating a skid loader when he pulled up alongside a hay-bailing machine. Deputies said at some point the front loader was released while Hoover busied himself with the hay-bailing machine, and the loader crushed him. In a press release, investigators said Hoover may have accidentally hit the front-end loader control with his foot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trumansburg's EMS and fire department assisted at the scene.
