The most magical weekend of the year is coming up on Oct. 26 and 27. Wizarding Weekend, an outdoor fan convention celebrating magic, science, and all things fantasy, will be held on the streets of downtown Ithaca. Entertainment, programs, and all other activities will revolve around the mythical and fantastical worlds featured in literature, film, television, and gaming. Donations from attendees will be collected to support all onsite activities like the GorgeKeep School of Magic, kids’ activities, interactive exhibits, table gaming, live music and performances, and more.
Now is the time for people to create their best fan art for the Fan Art Show and costumes for the Costume/Cosplay Contest. Magical passports, which include exclusive experiences and swag are available through Wizarding Weekend’s webpage, with prices starting at $20, but they will rise on Sept. 1. Wizarding Weekend’s official “after party” is the Mystic Arts Ball, an evening of drinks, divination, and dancing at Liquid State Brewery on West Green Street. The $25-per-person ticket for the ball buys you light snacks, photo booth fun, divination experiences, dancing, and access to a cash bar. Tickets are limited and available for attendees 21 or older with ID on WizardingWeekend.com.
Wizarding Weekend is produced by FanUnity Inc, a non-profit dedicated to connecting fans with communities. For additional updates on activities and events, check out the web site, WizardingWeekend.com.
