An Ithaca Police officer's presence on the Commons. 

Ithaca Police have issued a press release regarding an investigation into a possible shots fired situation this afternoon. 

The release states that police responded to the Chestnut Hill Apartments around 4 p.m. after receiving multiple calls reporting shots fired. 

Further, the police said that the description witnesses gave of the assailants were two black male suspects, one holding a handgun, who ran from the apartment complex to Elm Street. One was wearing a black jacket with a blue sweatshirt underneath, the other was wearing a gray sweatshirt. No injuries were reported, and no more results from the investigation of the scene were released. 

Police are looking for the public's help, anonymous or otherwise.
