Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes is holding a rally on Tuesday, May 21st, calling for an end to the recent wave of legislation aimed at limiting or eliminating access to abortion services.
The rapid response rally is taking place from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at the Bernie Milton Pavilion on the Commons. People who would like more information can email email@example.com.
"Community members and speakers from Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes and our partnering organizations will speak out to highlight personal experiences and provide education about the ongoing attacks on abortion access," the event's description reads. "Politicians shouldn't be making decisions best left to women, their families, and their doctors. Together we say: Stop the bans. Reproductive healthcare is healthcare and healthcare is a human right!"
The laws in question are being put forward with (likely) the ultimate goal of challenging the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, which effectively barred states from banning abortions. The Roe v. Wade fight has been brewing since Brett Kavanaugh was appointed to the Supreme Court last fall, giving conservatives a significant advantage in the country's most powerful court. Recently, Alabama and Georgia have both passed arguably the most restrictive abortion laws the nation has seen, both of which have drawn ire from almost all Democrats and even some Republicans at the national level.
