Following a year-long investigation, investigators with the Ithaca Police Department was able to arrest Diane Heffner, 67 of Lansing, on Oct. 2, for stealing money, and altering business checks and records from a local organization in the City of Ithaca, according to a media release. Heffner was charged and arraigned in the Ithaca City Court on two counts of forgery in the second degree, two counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, and one count of grand larceny in the third degree.

After being arraigned on all charges, Heffner was released on her own recognizance. The Ithaca Police Department wants to let the community know they take financial crimes very seriously since these can have devastating effects on small businesses in the community.
