Over the last two weeks the Ithaca Police Department has responded to eight calls for service involving people suspected of having overdosed on heroin, including one death where the possibility that the person overdosed on heroin is being explored. The IPD is exploring the possibility that these overdoses are related; however, police say it is too early to draw any conclusions.
“If you are addicted to heroin or if you know someone is addicted to heroin, please reach out for help," said Ithaca Chief of Police John R. Barber. "There are a multitude of addiction recovery services in the Ithaca area that can and will help you."
Anyone with information that may aid police in investigating the sale or use of heroin is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department at 607-272-3245 or the drug tip line at 607-330-0000.
