The Ithaca Police Department, accompanied by Bangs EMS, responded to 150 West Village Pl. to investigate an incident involving two unresponsive people on August 21, according to a press release.

Once police arrived on the scene, they found Bangs EMS administering CPR to the two patients. One patient was able to be revived and was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment, but the second patient was deceased at the scene. She was identified as Kelly Martin, a 42 year old female resident of the City of Ithaca.

An investigation is ongoing at this time. While the deaths appear to have been caused by an overdose, according to police, the Medical Examiner has not ruled on the official cause of death at the time of the writing. Other details have not been released, and when contacted for a follow-up for the print edition of the Ithaca Times, the Ithaca Police Department did not respond.
