On Nov. 14, the Ithaca Fire Department welcomed its newest member and promoted two other to help keep the community and the department safe. Tom Parsons, chief of the Ithaca Fire Department, and City Clerk Julie Holcomb presided over the promotions and swearing-in ceremony for the newly promoted Assistant Chief Thomas Basher Jr., newly hired firefighter Ryan Saul, newly promoted Lieutenant Trevor Peyus.
Firefighter Saul has almost completed his basic training and will be joining one of the four shifts that protect Ithaca every day. Lt. Peyus will be working with the Department’s “D” shift and Asst. Chief Basher will be taking the reigns on the department’s training division.
Family members, friends, Common Council members, and numerous other firefighters were on hand to mark the occasion. All three are excited to bring their unique skill sets and talents to their roles in the department and to keep Ithaca a safe place to live.
