It's with a heavy heart that the Ithaca Fire Department announced, in a press release, the passing of Firefighter Daryl Pace at age 36. Pace was diagnosed with job-related cancer and reluctantly retired only a few months ago to spend more time with her family and live her life to the fullest in her final days. Her last few weeks were spent with family and friends, and she was a fighter until the end. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final days until she slipped away, yielding to her battle with cancer.
The Ithaca Fire Department will be holding a memorial service in her honor on July 17 at 1 p.m. at Stewart Park in Ithaca for those who wish to attend. All fire departments wishing to attend should arrive in full dress uniform at 12:30 in the park and email email@example.com, for planning purposes, by Sunday. For more details, contact Assistant Chief Dan Tier or Lieutenant Tom Basher.
