Starting on July 2, the 300 Block of South Titus Avenue, between South Albany Street and South Plain Street, will be closed for NYSEG utility work.
According to a City of Ithaca alert released Monday, new gas mains and service connections at the project site will be installed. All traffic will be detoured around this block, while a resident and emergency vehicle access will be maintained. The construction work is expected to last two weeks. Up to 10 parking spaces adjacent to the work zone could be removed from public use.
Construction operations, as well as material storage, will occupy some parking spaces on the affected streets. Since construction is subject to constant change, the project may take longer due to unexpected findings and inclement weather. The City of Ithaca will be meeting with DDS Companies and NYSEG regularly. For more information about the project’s schedule or impacts, it is easiest to speak with the on-site supervisor. Anyone with specific questions about their property or special accommodation requests can be directed to Doug Stafford at 607-227-2754 or Rob Malarkey at 607-766-1456.
