Candor Village cafe and pizzeria Firehouse Coffee will be remaining open under the management of Stephen Haner.

Haner is working on sprucing up the place and keeping the place running to support and nurture the community.

Most new business owners face challenges, but he has some very unexpected ones, what with Main Street in Candor being closed at times and torn up by the New York State Department of Transportation, which is doing some work on the drainage.

Many residents have been inconvenienced as well without much notification as to what is happening and when it will be done.

Firehouse Coffee’s hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Haner was born and raised in Candor and is a Candor High School graduate.

After 30 years as an employee of Cornell University, working in many departments like plant research, telecommunications and maintenance, he has recently retired and wants to support and give back to his community.

While it may be challenging to navigate Main Street currently, Haner and his staff are dong their best to work around the inconvenience. Those interested can also call in orders and pick them up.
