A Trumansburg man faces multiple charges after stealing a vehicle and leading police on a chase into Dryden.
Ithaca-based troopers said that Patrick W. Shay, 26, of Trumansburg, was behind the wheel of a reported stolen vehicle in the city of Ithaca on Saturday, Feb. 22. After they spotted the stolen 2011 Subaru Forester heading north on Route 13, troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Shay fled. Shay made it as far as the village of Dryden before he lost control of the vehicle and hit a snow bank after turning onto Monroe Street. Troopers said Shay then fled on foot into nearby woods. He was eventually apprehended and found to be in possession of roughly 10 hydrocodone pills, marijuana and property from the stolen vehicle, troopers said.
Shay faces two charges of criminal possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and several traffic law violations.
Shay was arraigned in Dryden Town Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash bail.
