ITHACA – The Ithaca City Police Department has opened an investigation into how a 39-year-old man came to be found dead in the bathroom of a downtown Ithaca business.

According to police, officers received a report from a business in the 200 block of West Seneca St. around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, that an unidentified man was unconscious in the bathroom. On the scene, officers found the man to be without a pulse. Emergency workers on the scene began CPR before Bangs Ambulance transported the man to Cayuga Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the individual’s name, pending notification of his family. The cause of death has yet to be determined but does not appear the result of any intentional criminal act, according to police.

The individual is a white male, 39 years old with hazel eyes, brown hair and a thin build. When found, he was wearing blue jeans, a black vest and a red plaid shirt, police said.

Anyone with pertinent information that would aid the police’s investigation is asked to call Dispatch (607-272-3245) or Administration (607-272-9973).
